BRIDGE DESIGN KIT
GEEN 3400: Invention & Innovation is an engineering projects class simulating the experience of designing, manufacturing, and pitching a product to market. In Fall 2025, my team developed the Bridge Design Kit, a STEM toy introducing elementary and middle-school aged kids to the concepts of statics. The Bridge Design Kit is an easily-assembled truss that lights up when force is applied to it, denoting the strength of force experienced in each member, as well as whether it is in tension or compression. A toy like this currently does not exist on the market.
My team at Fall 2025 EXPO. The Bridge Design Kit won 3rd place overall out of over 150 projects.
As Manufacturing Lead, I designed physical components including members and gusset plates in OnShape, and manufactured components with acrylic, 3D-printing, and soldering.
To design the Bridge Design Kit the way a real product would be, my team created a customer survey filled out by 100 potential customers, interviewed experts in the field, researched existing patents, prepared and presented multiple pitches, and created a video commercial, sales plan, and business plan.
